How an Oil & Gas Company Transformed Asset Tracking and Field Operations With Salesforce

Updated: Nov 30, 2025

A growing oil & gas company needed a more reliable way to manage their equipment deployed across rigs nationwide. Manual spreadsheets, siloed systems, and limited field visibility made it difficult to track asset performance, schedule maintenance, and link equipment to rig locations. Blackmore delivered a purpose-built Salesforce solution that centralized asset tracking, connected sales and service workflows, and integrated with their ERP for full operational visibility.

Challenge

The company manages a specialized device used on oil rigs to ensure proper oil production and reduce downtime. But without a unified system, they struggled to track where each device was installed, when maintenance was due, and how equipment performed over time. Field teams relied heavily on manual updates and inconsistent records, making it difficult to plan service visits or verify asset status.

Their ERP housed order and shipping information, but it wasn’t connected to Salesforce, creating gaps between equipment manufacturing, deployment, and ongoing service. With assets spread across rigs throughout the U.S., the lack of a centralized view created operational inefficiencies and limited insight into product performance and customer activity.

Solution

Blackmore built a structured asset management database in Salesforce, connecting each device to its corresponding rig location and customer account. Using Sales Cloud and Service Cloud together, we designed workflows that allow teams to track deployment, schedule routine maintenance, and manage service checkups from a single system.

Custom development integrated Salesforce with their ERP to sync asset shipments, order history, and installation status - ensuring accurate, real-time visibility into where every device is located and how it’s performing. The new system enables proactive service scheduling, streamlined communication between teams, and a complete end-to-end view of asset lifecycle and rig operations.

Impact

The company now operates with complete clarity across all installed devices, rig locations, and service needs. Field teams know exactly which equipment is deployed, when maintenance is due, and what service actions are required - reducing downtime and improving production stability for their customers.

Integration with their ERP eliminated manual data entry and provided leadership with accurate reporting on asset utilization, order status, and customer activity. With Salesforce as the operational backbone, the organization can scale more efficiently, support more rigs, and deliver a higher level of service across the U.S. oil & gas market.
